New York, NY (Hybrid)
Principal Product Engineer
Reports to: SVP Product & Technology (or Head of Engineering)
About Genuin:
Genuin is building the Community Media Network — a white-label, SDK-first platform that helps brands embed AI-powered, shoppable video experiences directly into their own apps and sites. Think: TikTok-like feeds, carousels, and contextual video modules—running inside brand-owned destinations, with measurable outcomes and real-time optimization.
The Role:
We’re looking for a Principal Product Engineer in NYC—someone who sits at the intersection of product thinking + deep engineering execution. You’ll lead the build of high-impact product surfaces and platform capabilities across our SDKs and services, and you’ll be a “force multiplier” for our team across the US and India.
This is a hands-on role: you’ll ship production code, shape architecture, and drive cross-functional delivery with Product, Design, and Customer Implementation.
What You’ll Do:
Own core product experiences end-to-end: from discovery → spec → architecture → implementation → rollout → iteration.
Build and evolve our embeddable video modules (feeds, carousels, placements, widgets) across Web and mobile surfaces.
Drive technical direction for SDK architecture (Web + Mobile) including performance, reliability, and developer ergonomics.
Partner tightly with Product & Design to translate UX into scalable systems—fast prototypes when needed, strong foundations always.
- Create clean interfaces between client SDKs and backend services (APIs, events, identity/session, personalization, analytics).
- Set engineering standards: code quality, instrumentation, testing strategies, CI/CD hygiene, observability, and documentation.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers—raising the bar while staying in the trenches.
- Work with Customer/Implementation teams to solve real integration issues and feed learnings back into roadmap and architecture.
What We’re Looking For:
- 8–12+ years of experience shipping consumer-grade or high-scale B2B product engineering.
- Proven ability to lead complex builds across multiple systems (client + backend), without needing a big team to get impact.
- Strong product instincts: you can debate tradeoffs, simplify scope, and optimize for outcomes—not just output.
- Deep experience with at least one of:
- Web: TypeScript, React/Next.js, modern frontend tooling, performance optimization
- Mobile: iOS (Swift), Android (Kotlin), React Native, mobile performance + lifecycle
- Strong understanding of event-driven systems, analytics/instrumentation, experimentation, and data-informed iteration.
- Experience with SDK/platform products: versioning, backward compatibility, API contracts, integration patterns.
- Comfortable operating in a high-velocity environment with ambiguity and multiple stakeholders.
Bonus Points:
- AdTech / MediaTech / VideoTech background (player pipelines, streaming basics, ad measurement, attribution).
- Recommendation/personalization systems and feed ranking fundamentals.
- Experience building developer-facing products (docs, sample apps, SDK tooling, debug utilities).
- Prior work with commerce/shoppable content, retail media, or creator/community ecosystems.
Tech Stack (Representative):
- Frontend: TypeScript, React, Next.js
- Mobile/SDKs: iOS, Android, React Native (as applicable)
- Backend: Node/Go/Python (varies), REST/GraphQL, event pipelines
- Infra/Observability: Cloud + logging/metrics/tracing (If you’re exceptional, stack match isn’t the deciding factor.)
Why This Role Matters:
You’ll help define how modern brands deliver video-native experiences without living inside walled-garden social platforms—while building the SDK and product layer that makes it turnkey, measurable, and scalable.
Compensation:
Competitive base + performance bonus + meaningful equity (NYC market aligned, based on experience).
How to Apply:
Send a short note with:
- links to products you’ve shipped (or repos / writeups),
- what you owned end-to-end,
- and why NYC + Genuin is the right fit.
If you want to help shape the future of video, media, commerce, and AI-led experiences, we’d love to meet you.
